• Ironic that Virgin is making lounge access harder to get with its move to 'spend-based status earning' but at the same time giving lounge access to anyone who plonks down $440 for this Amex card! I reckon the two go hand-in-hand, Virgin knows that making lounge access part of the Amex card benefi...

  • I can't see that happening at all, as mentioned below, the Hawaiian board is on the way out, plus it doesn't seem to make sense that Alaska would invest in Virgin when it has closer ties to Qantas & OneWorld.

  • This is a real shame, my Dad is a pretty loyal VA flyer and loves SQ too, so he'd earn VA points on both and then burn them on SQ business or premium economy award seats to the UK. • I get that Qantas wants to continue being a 'full service' airline compared to Virgin, that every economy passenger gets something that passes for a meal or at least a snack, but I wonder what the response would be if Qantas introduced a new cheaper domestic 'Economy Lite' fare which had no meal ...

  • The short answer is YES, Virgin Australia would certainly use its Boeing 777s for east-west flights if the economics stacked up. Airlines are a business and it pretty much all comes down to economics. Qantas would use A380s for east-west flights if those economics stacked up, too. But to make tho...

  • Very interesting but not much of a 'saving'.
