Is it worth trouble to go from T5 to T3 for QF lounge or BA lounges in T5 is good enough? Flying out by BA from T5.

Other than being an F pax and being able to access the Concorde lounge, Galleries First and Galleries are busy, zoo, cafeteria style lounges. Modern yes, but waaaay overcrowded most times. That said, I wouldn't bother changing terminals; that in itself is a painful exercise - air or land side.

Hi Serg, I would NEVER switch terminals at LHR just to visit the Qantas LHR T3 Lounge. It is nothing special.

The only reason you would consider switching terminals would be for the Cathay First Lounge in T3 - but again, I'm not sure you would switch terminals for it. I'm not even sure you are permitted to?

Even if you are... it's not worth it. Just find a quiet space in the BA lounge at T5 and relax. The extra stress of going through security twice more is not worth it.

Completely agree with earlier comments. Unless you're travelling in first or can access the Concorde lounge, then BA lounges in T5 are nothing special at all. Food is very blase and it's usually very busy/crowded... And although QF lounge may be a bit nicer and better food, it's usually very busy too and not much space. CX first is best bet if you can access it in T3. However that said I'd also never bother going to the hassle of changing terminals just for the lounge, that in itself is a nightmare, unless you have 4+ hours. If you are going to do this, start directly at T3... I would be fairly sure they'll let you in even if your departing t5 but you should check this for certain. BTW you probably already checked this but some BA flights actually depart from T3. That's a win if it is. Cheers.

Actually interesting point pab2025 makes... The lounge may let you in but security may not let you through.

BA First lounge in T5 is ok, but sit 'outside' on the deck area, it's inside the terminal, and under the roof, but generally less crowded and a bit more sociable if that is what you like.

Apart from their first lounge in 5 on the upper level at the northern end, there are two lower level lounges..the best one is on the upper level.. and that was advice from their own staff.

Don't know how the security works at Heathrow but the last time I was there, I couldn't find any easy way to hop between terminals. So might be a bit of a trouble just to visit lounge, but do provide a trip report - I would be curious to know!

I did spend quite some time at a BA First lounge at T5 (at LHR flying to Manchester). In terms of food and drinks selection, they are way better than any QF Domestic Business lounge - they even have champagne (proper one, not those cheap bubbly). They have good selection of wine too (at least from the wine list), but when I was there, most of them were 'out of stock'. And like others have said, T5 BA First lounge can be crowded, I would say, as busy as what you find at SYD QF domestic business lounge.

Was a while ago, Arrived into T3, luggage was checked all the way through to my European destination. Caught an airside bus to T5. Security into T5 and then to the BA lounge. Yes was busy due to the time of day.

I am sure I needed to have my T5 boarding pass to get on the bus. Based on this, I don’t think there would be the option to move across to T3. Could be wrong.

An update. I not used LHR for quite a while and let me tell you that now it is ugliest airport that I been during last trip. Forget about changing terminals - it is not SIN by any means and you have to do security each and every time. Also there are some gates (gates "C" for example) in terminal 5 that more looks like separate terminals albeit without any facilities. DO NOT go there unless you ready to board and have as least 20 spare minutes if you going to them from "A" gates. And yes, BA lounge in terminal 5 is more like McDonald in Australia with difference that there is nothing to eat in the lounge. Next lounge that I visit the same day was marvelous "The Pier" in HKG. It is like comparing Grand Hyatt and dorm-style sleep over place for $10.
